LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Bucknell University will offer two workshops with Victoria Mavis on Thursday, Aug. 29. Both workshops will be held in the SBDC Business Education Center, Room 308 of the DeWitt Building at 416 Market St. in Lewisburg.
Mavis, who is president of Core People Resources, is the author of Building the Ultimate Network. She has more than 20 years of experience in hospitality, local government, manufacturing, medical services, non-profits and retail.
The first workshop, "The Devil is in the Details," will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Mavis will discuss the most common mistakes that business owners, CFOs, managers, non-profit directors and HR professional make. She will examine ways to decrease risk of legal fines, reduce the likelihood of being sued by employees, increase employee productivity and company profits. Mavis also will review the top 30 factors which add substantial cost to any organization if not managed appropriately.
The second workshop, "Creating Job Descriptions," will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Mavis will share tips on how to clearly define the duties for the job, properly state the functions of the position and outline the requirements of the job.

Workshops have been submitted to the HR Certification Institute for review; attendees can request the HR certification.
