LEWISBURG, Pa. Poland's national dance company, the Slask Song and Dance Ensemble of Poland, will perform on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University.

The company has been described as one of the grandest and most dazzling spectacles in the world.

Created in 1953 in Poland by the great Stanislaw Hadyna, a composer, pedagogue, writer and well-known folk song collector, the Ensemble serves as a great ambassador by spreading Polish artistic mastery to the rest of the world.

Their winter 2014 tour will celebrate the vivid and dynamic Silesian folk music and dance with more than 80-members in the ensemble and stunning, traditional costumes.

The family-friendly show is a thrilling display of dazzling movement, vibrant color and stunning beauty, with beautiful choreographic, vocal and musical performances. Dancers whirl, leap, stamp and glide in a glorious outpouring of sound and motion, rhythm and music that celebrates the cultural legacy of Poland.

The troupe consists of choir, orchestra and dancers dressed in stunning and intricately decorated traditional costumes. One of the highlights of the show is the spectacular costumes; there are more than 1,000 in the performance.

Tickets for the performance are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors ages 62+, $10 for youth under 18, and $10 for college students.

Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling the Campus Box Office at 570-577-1000.

Tickets are also available in person from several locations including the Weis Center lobby weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University bookstore in Lewisburg weekdays and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 12:30 to 4 p.m.; and the CAP Center Box Office, located on the ground floor of the Elaine Langone Center, weekdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
