LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell University's student-run radio station, WVBU, will broadcast The Marx Brothers' "Lost Radio Show" Tuesday, March 5, at 8 p.m.
The broadcast may be heard online at www.wvbu.com
John Hunter, associate professor of comparative humanities at Bucknell, will provide an introduction to the radio show.
"The Lost Radio Show" by Nat Perrin and Arthur Sheekman was performed by the RiverStage Community Theatre and recorded before a live audience at the Campus Theatre last October.
The radio program, "Flywheel, Shyster and Flywheel," starred Groucho Marx and his brother Chico Marx and ran for 26 episodes as part of the NBC Five Star Theatre variety show in 1932.
It is known as their 'lost' radio show because no recordings exist, but the series influenced later classic Marx Brothers films.
The RiverStage Community Theatre, formerly the Milton Area Community Theatre, originated in 2003 to bring community-based musical theater to the Susquehanna Valley. The next performance will be "Fools" by Neil Simon, directed by Jove Graham, on March 8, 9 and 10 at the Campus Theatre in Lewisburg.
