Their expertise spans a wide range of subjects, from Chinese dancing and children's literature to bat diseases and business management.

But these four faculty members share a common distinction: they were recently promoted to full professor. They discuss their work and share the inspiration for their teaching and research in newly posted profiles.

The rank of full professor, the highest form of recognition in academia, was conferred following intensive review by their academic colleagues and approval by the Board of Trustees last April.

"Full professorship recognizes years of dedication and excellence, and signifies the pinnacle of an academic career," said Provost Mick Smyer. "Their guidance has profound and lasting effects on our students, and they inspire and mentor junior faculty. The University is grateful for their commitment and leadership."

This is the first of a three-part series of faculty profiles. Next week, meet Bucknell's newly tenured professors. | See all faculty profiles
