The Windy City was the latest stop on the national tour for WE DO, The Campaign for Bucknell University, drawing more than 130 alumni, parents and friends to the Ravenswood Event Center on Sept. 19.
In true Chicago fashion, many came straight from a Cubs game to the event, where they heard President John Bravman discuss the progress and goals of the half-a-billion dollar comprehensive campaign. President Emeritus and Honorary Campaign Co-Chair Gary Sojka also spoke to the audience gathered in the venue's Billboard Factory room, which featured neon signs and classic cars.
Academics were front and center as Professors Dan Cavanagh and Katherine Faull presented faculty "snap talks" highlighting their recent research and participated in a discussion moderated by Provost Mick Smyer. Several interactive areas hosted by students and faculty highlighted innovative projects in management, engineering and the humanities.
"These WE DO events are so special because they allow us to bring Bucknell to our alumni, volunteers, parents and friends in cities across the country," said Bravman. "It is their generous support that will carry this campaign to great success, thereby changing the lives of our students today, tomorrow and many decades from now."
The next WE DO tour event will be held Nov. 8 at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. | Registration
