Bucknell Receives $176,000 Grant from ExxonMobil Foundation
June 14, 2017, BY Christina Masciere Wallace
Bucknell University has received a grant of more than $176,000 from the ExxonMobil Foundation, the primary philanthropic arm of the ExxonMobil Corp. Timothy Hinchman '86, sales director of strategic global alliances for ExxonMobil Corp., recently presented the check to President John Bravman.
The grant represents the Foundation's matching gifts applied to donations from Bucknell alumni who work for or are retired from ExxonMobil. Every alumni contribution was met with a 3-to-1 matching gift through the Foundation's Education Matching Gift Program. The $176,000 donation raises the Foundation's total Bucknell matches to $2.6 million.
"On behalf of the entire Bucknell community, I thank the ExxonMobil Foundation for its continued commitment to Bucknell and to higher education broadly," said Bravman. "We are grateful for both the support of our loyal alumni and for ExxonMobil's long-standing generosity in matching their employees' gifts to Bucknell."
The ExxonMobil Foundation, which was established in 1955, focuses its education initiatives on supporting programs that improve teaching and learning in math and science, and those that encourage women and minorities to become scientists and engineers.
