The Jazz at Bucknell series will continue with a pair of upcoming concerts held a week apart. The first will feature The Wee Trio on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 pm in Bucknell Hall, followed by Jazz Mass with Ike Sturm and Evergreen on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 pm in Rooke Chapel. Both performances are free and open to the public.

The Wee Trio, features James Westfall, vibraphone; Dan Loomis, bass; and Jared Schonig, drums.

The group, which calls New Orleans and New York home, tours extensively and has appeared at numerous events and cities. It burst onto the jazz scene in 2008 with the release of Capitol Diner, Vol. 1, which received international attention and was awarded status as one of the top 10 albums of the year by The San Francisco Chronicle, Boston's Patriot Ledger and All About Jazz. It has produced five album releases in all.

Sturm is the musical director for the jazz ministry at St. Peter's Church in New York and composed Jazz Mass, a work for voices, strings and jazz ensemble that mergers diverse musical languages into a powerfully unified aesthetic. The recording was released to critical acclaim and has been performed throughout the United States and Europe. His band, Evergreen, is a nine-person band that performs regularly at St. Peter's and around the world.

The Jazz at Bucknell series presents international modern masters and young visionaries, showcasing the entire tradition of jazz from standards to the avant-garde, with an eye on artists who continue the innovative tradition of the music with their personal approaches to sound, style and composition.
