The Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning (BILL) will present the discussion "Wild Eggplants and Bush Tomatoes: The Hunt for New Species" on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 3:30 p.m. at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at The Village Common, located at 6 Tressler Blvd. in Lewisburg.

The program, part of the BILL Tea & Talk series, is free and open to the public without registration. Teatime refreshments are provided free of charge. Doors open at 3 p.m.

Professor of Biology Christopher Martine, the David Burpee Chair in Plant Genetics & Research and director of the Manning Herbarium at Bucknell University, will detail a 2014 research expedition to Australia in which he discovered two new species of wild eggplant. The species were later described and named with help from Bucknell undergraduates and 150 local 7th grade students.

From the intersection of State Route 45 and U.S. Route 15 in Lewisburg, drive west on SR 45 for 1.1 miles; turn right (north) onto Reitz Boulevard into Brookpark Farm. Drive 0.6 mile; turn left onto Tressler Boulevard. The Village Common is directly ahead.

The BILL Tea & Talk schedule continues Oct. 6 with "Dodging Avalanches, Bears and Storms to Reconstruct the Geologic Development of Alaskan Mountain Ranges" with Professor Jeff Trop, geology.
