Rick Benjamin, founder and director of the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, will speak at a Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at noon. The event, which is open to the public, will be held at The Village Common, 6 Tressler Blvd. in Lewisburg.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Beverages and light dessert are provided free of charge. Attendees may bring their own lunch or purchase a soup-and-salad lunch for $6 up until noon on Oct. 10 by contacting the BILL office at 570-522-0105 or at lifelonglearning@bucknell.edu. The lunch menu for this event is quinoa and vegetable wrap, butternut squash bisque and assorted scones.

Benjamin's talk is titled "Thirty Years of the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra: An Informance." He will discuss the genre of ragtime music and supplement his talk with recorded music, videos and photos. A Lewisburg resident, Benjamin has built his career on the discovery and performance of American music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He has guest conducted numerous ensembles and is also a leading conductor of music for silent films, with more than 600 to his credit.
