David Karol, author of three books on modern political theory and associate professor at the University of Maryland, will speak at Bucknell University on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Elaine Langone Center Forum. This talk is free and open to the public.
Karol's talk is titled "Does the Party Still Decide: Presidential Nominations in 2016 and Beyond," and he will discuss the 2016 presidential nominating campaign, which was unconventional and has led to an equally unconventional fall general campaign. He will also explore, in light of these developments, what we can say about the way parties choose candidates and what it means for our political system.
This talk is sponsored by the Bucknell Institute for Public Policy (BIPP) and the political science department, and is part of the BIPP's fall election series — a sequence of evening lectures, Pizza & Policy lunch panels and other opportunities for people to be engaged in the political process.
