The Bucknell University student-produced documentary Stories of the Susquehanna Valley: Utopian Dreams will premiere on WVIA on Sunday, April 17, at 7 p.m.

The Stories of the Susquehanna Valley documentary series is a public history project in which Bucknell students discover and tell stories of community in the Susquehanna River Valley in 26-minute documentary films. Utopian Dreams is the first in this series, and it focuses on the aspirations of two separate communities to create their ideal societies.

The documentary series is part of a larger, long-term collaborative research project that began in 2010. This broader Stories of the Susquehanna Valley effort combines the academic areas of environmental humanities, digital humanities and literary studies. It involves collaboration with community and regional partners including local high schools and conservation and historical groups, as well as the Chesapeake Conservancy in partnership with the National Park Service and leaders of the Haudenosaunne (Iroquois) nations.

A 30-second preview of the film is also available.

Please visit the WVIA website to find the station on local television providers.
