The Weis Center will kick off its spring season with a Family Discovery Series show featuring Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia performing Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Other Treasured Stories, on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m.

Tickets for the performance are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 62+, $5 for youth 18 and under, $5 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $5 for Bucknell students (limit 2) and $5 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). Tickets can be purchased online at the Campus Box Office or by calling 570-577-1000.

Tickets are also available in person from several locations including the Weis Center lobby (weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and the CAP Center Box Office, located on the ground floor of the Elaine Langone Center (weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

The performance is suggested for children ages 3–8. It is sponsored, in part, by the Children's Museum of Bloomsburg, which  will host free kids activities in the lobby prior to the performance, beginning at noon. Activities will include a giant interactive mural, mask making and a light box station.

Mermaid's much-anticipated new production, A Brown Bear, A Caterpillar and A Moon: Treasured Stories by Eric Carle, will bring together old favorites and new friends. Featuring evocative music, stunning visual effects and innovative puppetry, the triple-bill highlights three of Carle's most beloved tales. First published in 1967, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? has helped hundreds of thousands of toddlers associate colors and meanings to objects. Capturing the rhythmic text and beautiful tissue-paper collage illustrations of the classic picture book, Mermaid's adaption generates fresh appreciation of the endearing cast of characters.
