The Bucknell Institute for Public Policy (BIPP) will host its next Pizza & Policy lunch forum at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, in the Academic West event lounge, located on the first floor of Academic West. The forum is titled "Landscapes of Distress and the 2016 Presidential Election" and is free and open to the public.

The forum's guest speaker will be Shannon Monnat from Penn State University. With the U.S.' unprecedented opiate epidemic an important theme of the 2016 presidential campaign, Monnat will discuss her recent analyses showing that Donald Trump performed best in counties with the highest drug, alcohol and suicide mortality rates. Her discussion will focus on how these patterns are tied to long-term economic and social decline and potential implications of various proposed policy responses.
