Theater group Childsplay will present Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts.

From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears at their door, Sally and her brother know that the Cat in the Hat is the most mischievous cat they will ever meet. Suddenly the rainy afternoon is transformed by the Cat and his antics. Will their house ever be the same? Can the kids clean up before mom comes home?

Patrons are encouraged to come early to the Weis Center. From noon to 1 p.m., the Public Library for Union County will host free activities in the lobby that will allow families to explore science, math, engineering and art with hands-on activities. Curious about how the Cat in the Hat balances all those items on his body? Learn about center of gravity by trying to do the same at the "I Can Do That" learning station. Ready to let your creative juices flow? Head over to the "Create It" station and make a Thing One or Thing Two puppet to take home. Children also can try their hand at building a tower using the Cat in the Hat's closet full of hats.

The performance is part of the Weis Center's Family Discovery Series and is suggested for ages 4-10. The performance is 50 minutes long.

Tickets for the performance are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 62+, $5 for youth 18 and under, $5 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $5 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $5 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). Tickets can be purchased online at the Campus Box Office or by calling 570-577-1000.

Tickets also are available in person from several locations including the Weis Center lobby (weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and the CAP Center Box Office, located on the ground floor of the Elaine Langone Center (weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
