Bucknell University will welcome new students to campus between 8 a.m. and noon on Move-in Day, Wednesday, Aug. 19. New Student Orientation begins Aug. 19 and Transfer Student Orientation begins Aug. 20. Both continue until Sunday, Aug. 23.

New students include members of the Class of 2019, who were selected from 10,967 applicants representing 32 states and the District of Columbia and 39 countries, and 25 transfer students, 17 of whom are Bucknell Community College Scholars.

Some students have already arrived on campus for athletics pre-season. Many will arrive this week for one of Bucknell's pre-orientation programs — Arts First (arts program), Backstage Bucknell (Engineering Success Alliance program), BuckWild (wilderness experience), Building on Foundations (leadership program), or RAMP UP (T.E.A.M. peer mentor program) — or for International Student Orientation, which will welcome 89 new students from over 35 countries.

The five-day New Student Orientation Program is designed to help with the transition to life at Bucknell, and is centered on scholarship, community and tradition. New students will get to know campus with each other, assisted by upper class Orientation Assistants, Residential Advisors, Residential College Junior Fellows and professional staff. They will learn more about academic opportunities during meetings with faculty, both in groups and individually, as part of the extensive program schedule.

Orientation ends on Sunday, Aug. 23, with the traditional Convocation Dinner, followed by Convocation and Candlelighting.

Bucknell will post photos of the activities on Facebook and in a gallery afterward on the Class of 2019 webpage.

Classes for all students begin on Monday, Aug. 24.
