Bucknell University will welcome the Class of 2020 to campus for New Student Orientation beginning Wednesday, Aug. 17, with Move-in Day, and continuing through Sunday, Aug. 21.

The five-day program is designed to help with the transition to life at Bucknell, and is centered on scholarship, community and tradition. New students will get to know campus with the assistance of Orientation Leaders and assistants, Residential Advisers, Residential College Junior Fellows and professional staff. They will learn more about academic opportunities during meetings with faculty, both in groups and individually, as part of the extensive program schedule.

The Class of 2020 is made up of 955 students, who were selected from 10,487 applicants. They represent 35 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and 55 countries. There will also be 29 transfer students joining the Bucknell community.

Some students are already on campus for fall athletics preseason or one of Bucknell's pre-orientation programs: International Student Orientation, Bucknell Wilderness Experience, Bison Leadership Involvement & Connections (BLINC), Arts First, Ramp Up! and Backstage Bucknell.

Orientation will end Sunday, Aug. 21, with the traditional Convocation Dinner and Convocation and Candlelighting.

Follow Orientation activities on Bucknell's social media channels — Facebook, Twitter and Instagram — and through the Class of 2020 page.

Classes begin Monday, Aug. 22.
