Formed in 2007 by Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth, tenThing are rapidly establishing themselves on the international scene. The ensemble works closely with Norwegian guitarist and arranger Jarle Storløkken, who arranges many of their scores and enables them to play the music they enjoy, regardless of the original instrumentation.
Since forming, the group has performed all over their native Norway, and delighted a huge audience by opening the 2011 Norwegian Grammy Awards.
While at the Weis Center, they will perform Grieg's "Praeludium" from the Holberg Suite; Op. 40, "Grandmothers' Minuet"; Op. 68 No. 2, "Gjendine's Lullaby"; Op. 66 No. 19; and "March of the Trolls"; Op. 54 No. 3, "Asturias," from Suite Española No.1; Op. 47, Vivaldi's "Summer from The Four Seasons"; Handel's "Fireworks"; Mozart's "Rondo alla Turca"; Aaron Copland's "Hoe-Down" from "Rodeo"; Leonard Bernstein's "Medley" from "West Side Story"; Tchaikovsky's "Valse sentimental" from Six Pieces; Op. 51 No. 6, Saeverud's "Kjempeviseslotten" from Slåtter og Stev fra Siljustøl; Piazzolla's "Oblivion"; and Bizet's Suite from "Carmen."
