LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell University will host about 5,000 visitors participating in about 35 conferences beginning June 9 through July 31.

Bucknell-affiliated programs
Bucknell's annual Reunion Weekend will be held June 2 to 5, with thousands of alumni and families returning to campus for the weekend activities. A highlight of the gathering will be a free fireworks display Saturday, June 4, at 10:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Spectators may view the fireworks from the Academic Quad in front of Bertrand Library. Parking will be available in the farm lot off Seventh Street or above the stadium. Dent Drive between Seventh Street and the stadium will be closed from 9 to 11:30 p.m.

The University's alumni summer guest program, which offers accommodation for alumni families in Bucknell West, is scheduled for June 10 through July 29.

The summer school session will be held June 13 to July 22. Other Bucknell-sponsored conferences include the Biology Academic Symposium June 13-14; Engineering Camp June 26-July 2; Fiver admissions program June 27-29; College Admissions Workshop June 29 -July 1; E-3 Engineering Workshop July 19-22; and a MERCURY undergraduate chemistry conference July 28-30. In addition, numerous students will participate in summer research programs June 6 through Aug. 5.

Seminar for Younger Poets
Students, faculty and visiting poets participating in the 26th annual Seminar for Younger Poets will read from their works during the seminar held June 5 to 26. Visiting poets Arthur Sze and Carol Moldaw will join director G.C. Waldrep, associate director Deirdre O'Connor and Stadler Center Fellows Will Schutt and Diana Park.

Readings, which are free and open to the public, will be held in the Stadler Center for Poetry in Bucknell Hall. Waldrep, O'Connor, Park and Schutt will give an opening reading on Tuesday, June 7, at 7 p.m. Moldaw will read with six of the Seminar Fellows on Friday, June 10, at 7 p.m. Sze will read with six of the Seminar Fellows on Wednesday, June 15, at 7 p.m. The final reading with all 12 Seminar Fellows is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m.

Visiting organizations
Groups holding conferences include: Pennsylvania Kiwanis June 10-12; Bureau of Forestry Warden Weekend June 10-12; Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Youth Conference June 20-24; PACAC July 10-12; a meeting of the Technology Student Association July 11-12; Renaissance Nutrition July 19-21; and the Loyalsock Band July 24-29.

Religious groups include: Episcopal Diocese June 9-11; and Christian Missions (adult and youth) July 14-17.

Sports camps
Sports camps include: boys basketball team day June 11; girls basketball team camp June 15-18; Bison shoot-out June 18; girls basketball development camp June 19-23; boys basketball individual camp June 26-29; girls soccer camp June 26-29; water polo camps July 3-7 and July 10-14; boys lacrosse camp July 5-7; wrestling camp July 8-10; wrestling team camp July 10-14; boys soccer camps July 10-14 and July 15-18; cross country/track camp July 17-21; field hockey camp July 20-23; and boys baseball camp July 27-30.

The WSY Summer Long Course IMX meet will be held May 14. The WSY Summer Long Course Classic will be held June 17, 18 and 19, and the Mid-Atlantic Long Course championship will be held July 19-23 with teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware competing at Kinney Natatorium.

The PIAA football officials clinic will be held July 17. The football junior prospect day is scheduled for July 30. The North Union United Soccer Tournament will be held July 30 and July 31.

Cavalcade of Champions
The eighth annual Cavalcade of Champions drum and bugle corps competition will be held Saturday, July 30, at 7 p.m. in the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium at Bucknell. Admission is $20 for reserved seats, $17 for general seats.

Featured exhibition corps are "The Commandants Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and the Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps of Hawthorne, N.J.

Featured competing corps are the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps, Harrison, N.J.; the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum and Bugle Corps, Derby, Conn.; the Minnesota Brass, St. Paul, Minn.; and the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps, Reading, Pa.

Tickets may be purchased in person from the Barnes & Noble at Bucknell University bookstore box office in Lewisburg weekdays and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 12:30 to 4 p.m. or from the Campus Box Office in the Weis Center lobby, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The stadium box office opens at 5 p.m. on July 30; stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m.

Summer conferences
The summer conferences program at Bucknell University originated as a way to provide year-round employment to university staffs and offers a wide range of facilities in an educational and professional atmosphere.
