The Brungraber Structural Testing Laboratory is an all-purpose facility that allows a variety of structural tests and research. It has a 40-ft high universal testing machine with a load capacity of 600,000 lbs. with the over load capacity up to one million pounds. A number of large structures such as bridge beams have been load-tested with the machine.
The laboratory also has over 200 concrete anchor inserts that allow a variety of load tests for research and student projects. Some of the research projects involving load tests were 30-ft timber roof trusses, 35 ft timber bridges, short to long length steel joist girders, masonry walls, Ray-Core wall system, and lateral load tests on concrete masonry walls.
Additional activities taken place in the laboratory are students' projects such as concrete canoe and steel bridge construction.
