Bucknell in Nicaragua is a three week service-learning program based in Ciudad Sandino, on the edge of the capital city of Managua. We explore the central question:

How to promote community development in truly sustainable ways that meets the needs of the people on an ongoing basis?

Fundamentally, the question of development in its many forms is at the crux of the program. Through service-learning activities working in a health clinic, engaging in construction projects to meet community needs, excursions, visits with local experts as well as class readings and discussion, we will seek to understand better local possibilities and how they fit into a national and international framework.
