The following items can be placed in campus recycling and trash bins.
In the office: The desk side bins in your office are for recycling. Make sure you walk the rest of your trash to the centralized bins throughout your office.
In resident halls: If you live in traditional dormitory, take your trash and recycling to the common collection areas in your building. If you live in apartment style housing, take your trash and recycling directly to the outdoor dumpsters. If you have plastic grocery bags, don't forget you can take them to Weis and Giant for recycling in the lobby area collection bins.
In dining areas: In dining areas: Avoid take out containers when you can. Dining Services has a number of sustainable dining options to help you avoid single use items when eating on campus. When you have unwanted leftovers in a recyclable take out container, first scrape off or discard any food scraps into a trash can and then recycle your take out plastic and paper.
Do you remember the 3 Rs? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The order matters. First you want to focus on reducing the amount of packaging you use, then find ways to replace single use items with reusable ones, and finally recycle when you have items that you can no longer use.
