LEWISBURG, Pa. — Susan Valenti, most recently a director at Deutsche Bank, will be the keynote speaker at Bucknell University's fifth annual Student Leadership Institute.
Valenti will speak on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 4:15 p.m. in the Terrace Room of the Elaine Langone Center.
Valenti, who graduated from Bucknell in 1984, most recently ran the mortgage securitization group for Deutsche Bank's portfolio of residential mortgage products.
Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, she was a managing director at Bear Stearns. She has more than 25 years of experience in the mortgage finance industry, having worked at other firms including MBIA Insurance Corp., ContiFinancial Corp., Credit Suisse First Boston, and Salomon Brothers.
The half-day conference is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Elaine Langone Center. The Institute is open to Bucknell students; the registration fee is $5. Students can register on MyBucknell or in the Office of the Dean of Students, ELC 218.
The conference welcomes alumni back to Bucknell to share their knowledge and experience regarding leadership with Bucknell students. This year's conference will focus on 'Your Chance, Your Opportunity' with session topics including: 'Motivation' with Evan Berkley '96, who is vice president at Jacmel Jewelry; 'Professional Etiquette' with Geri Hotard '73, president of ChangeScapes; 'How to Build Successful Teams while Becoming an Effective Leader' with Daron Shepard '76, CEO of Shep Holdings; 'Public Speaking' with Jennifer Walsh Clark '92, attorney with Ufberg & Sileo; 'How to Hit a Curveball: The Nine Inning Approach to Confronting and Overcoming the Unexpected in Business (and Life)' with Scott Singer '87, a media industry investment banker and strategy consultant; and 'Leading in a Global Society' with Jeffrey McConnell '81, an orthopedic surgeon and co-founder of Operation Straight Spine.
