LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Union County Chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Larison Hall at Bucknell University.

"You can make a lifesaving donation in about an hour, and your one donation may help as many as three area patients to maintain or regain their health," said Wendy Oldright, blood services coordinator for the local American Red Cross chapter. "There is no substitute and still only one source for blood transfusion – volunteer blood donors."

Bucknell students have supported the American Red Cross for many years and account for about one-sixth of the blood donated in Union County, Oldright said. The local chapter's goal for Wednesday is 220 donors.

To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Identification is required at the time of donation.

Blood donors may make appointments online at Type in the sponsor code, "Bucknell."  Walk-in donors are always welcome.
