LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell University will host its annual Family Weekend Sept. 25 to 27. The following events are open to the local community:

Samek Art Gallery Exhibition, main gallery. Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Exhibit: Samek Art Gallery, main gallery. "William Christenberry: Site/Possession," curated by Andrea Douglas, University of Virginia Art Museum; "Widows of Vrindavan," photography by Erik Boker, Samek Art Gallery lobby.

Hilltop Film Series Friday Hilltop Film Series. "Absence of Malice," directed by Sydney Pollack, USA, 1981, 7:30 p.m., Gallery Theatre, Elaine Langone Center.

Dance Saturday Weis Center Series. "The Balanchine Couple" with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, 8 p.m., Weis Center. Tickets $25. [], by phone (570-577-1000), or at the door.

Sports Friday Women's volleyball vs. Army, 7 p.m.; men's water polo vs. Johns Hopkins, 8 p.m.; Saturday football vs. Marist, 1 p.m., includes a pre-show and half-time show (12:40 and 2:15 p.m., approximately) with the Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps; men's water polo vs. George Washington, 1:30 p.m.; men's soccer vs. American, 4 p.m.; men's water polo vs. Princeton, 5 p.m.; women's volleyball vs. Holy Cross, 5 p.m.; Sunday baseball vs. Susquehanna, 11 a.m.; field hockey vs. Temple, noon.

Open House Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m.: Greenhouse, upper level of Biology Building. Biology Building, Fourth Floor. Guided tours and more than 400 species of plants including orchids, cacti and carnivorous plants as well as olive, vanilla and banana.

Open House Saturday, 8 to 11 p.m.: Observatory, southern end of campus. Ned Ladd, associate professor of physics and astronomy, will give the talk, "Galactic Ecology," at 8 and 10 p.m. Visitors may tour the facility and, weather permitting, see the stars, the moon, and Jupiter through the newly restored 122-year-old Clark refracting telescope.|| Related story: Refurbished telescope returns

5K Run Sunday 8:30 a.m.: "Paint Bucknell Pink 5K Run," sponsored by Colleges Against Cancer. Registration is $20; register at McDonnell Hall.
