LEWISBURG, Pa. — The myBucknell redesign and New Frontiers of Knowledge project teams were honored recently with the Maxwell Award, presented annually to exceptional collaborative efforts of cross-functional groups, project teams and task forces at Bucknell University.

In a year-long project to provide a one-stop shop for online services for students, faculty and staff, the myBucknell redesign team implemented a new search engine, a new campus events calendar and a single sign-on to several online campus services, and integrated systems such as Zimbra and Blackboard.

Team members from the Library and Information Technology staff were Greg Amarante, Jennifer Harper, Dick Huff, Wade Hutchinson, Dan Mancusi, Don Rea, Lisa Veloz and Ian Wat. Team members from the Communications staff were Karen Holstead, Ryan LeBreton and Roberta Sims.

New Frontiers of Knowledge team
The New Frontiers of Knowledge project teamed Bucknell faculty, staff and students with Chicago high school students and school officials, working to prepare talented, under-represented high school students from inner-city schools for admission to, and success at, selective liberal arts colleges and universities.

Bucknell students were paired with select high school students to provide academic mentoring, and Bucknell faculty and staff were linked with education professionals in the Chicago school system to help all participants better understand the other's educational needs.

The team members from the University staff honored for their work on this project were Rolando Arroyo-Sucre, Charles Facka and Martha Shaunessy. Faculty team members were Nina Banks, Carl Milofsky, Michael Moohr, Marie Pizzorno and Margot Vigeant.

The Maxwell Award honors former Bucknell Vice President for Administration Barry Maxwell. Maxwell, who earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Bucknell, joined the mechanical engineering faculty in 1963. Named dean of the College of Engineering in 1979, he became vice president for administration in 1986 and retired in 1998. Established in 1994 as the WOW awards, the award was renamed in his honor in 2000.
