"Management combines a lot of my interests; there's the discipline of finance and accounting, but there's also the creativity of marketing and advertising, which I really enjoy, too. To combine all those is the ideal major for me."
"I was looking for a place with a lot of school spirit and pride, but also one with very strong academics, fun extracurricular activities and a lot of opportunities for me to grow as a person and as a student. Bucknell had all that. When I toured Bucknell for the first time, I looked around the beautiful campus and at the friendly student body, and I just knew this was the place for me. Something clicked that day. After that, I was pretty much set.
"When I came here, I didn't know exactly what my major would be. I really wanted a broad liberal arts program, but also liked the fact that Bucknell had strong business and economics programs I was looking for. Bucknell has a great student-to-faculty ratio, so I knew I would get to engage in my classes and really talk to the professors and my classmates. I'd get to engage in the class, which is really important. Here at Bucknell, I can be a name and a person, not just a number.
"I'm really interested in marketing and advertising. Management combines a lot of my interests; there's the discipline of finance and accounting, but there's also the creativity of marketing and advertising, which I really enjoy, too. To combine all those is the ideal major for me.
"Last year I took a class with a service learning requirement. I was looking for something kind of flexible, kind of different, but something that would be very practical for me and my major. I also wanted to do something that positively impacted our local community. I found the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership, which I could do on my own time. I had great people to work with and I got to jump right into a project. I got to work on marketing, advertising and posters, talk to people in PR and help strengthen the bond between Lewisburg and Bucknell. It was amazing to have an impact."
