LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Weis Center at Bucknell University has announced a change in the spring series.
The DePue Brothers Band will perform in concert on Friday, March 25, at 8 p.m. in place of the previously scheduled performance by Suzanne Vega.
"Suzanne Vega cancelled her spring tour because a play she has written will be in production this spring in New York City," said Bill Boswell, executive director of the Weis Center.
"In her place, we are very pleased that on short notice we have been able to secure The DePue Brothers Band, whose music is a vivid blend of classical, bluegrass, and rock genres.
"The band's nucleus of four violinist brothers includes Zach DePue who many here will remember as one of the dynamic trio of young artists, Time for Three, which appeared in the Weis Center a few years ago. Zach is, incidentally, now concertmaster of the Indianapolis Symphony while still a member of Time for Three and, like each of his three brothers, an acclaimed virtuoso and soloist in his own right," he said.
As a family, the DePues have been making music together for more than 25 years. They were named "Musical Family of America" by presidential decree in 1989 and were the subject of a nationally televised 1993 PBS documentary. Jason and Zach were featured in the film documentary Music From the Inside Out in 2005. Their first album as brothers, Classical Grass, sold out of its first printing. Weapons of Grass Destruction was recently released.
Tickets for The DePue Brothers Band performance are $25 per person. Discounts for senior citizens and students are available.
