Class of 2012 update: After graduation, Phil will be a Corp Member for Teach For America, teaching seventh through12th grade general science and biology in the East Bay area.

"I originally planned on becoming a neurosurgeon, but I discovered that while I loved the idea of being a surgeon, I didn't want to do it in practice. At the same time, I became really engaged with the philosophy courses I was taking — especially aspects of the law. Then, in the fall of my junior year, I studied abroad through Bucknell in London.

That experience gave me a new understanding of who I am and solidified my interest in law and leadership. To prepare for a career that fits with my new focus, I've chosen to supplement my neuroscience major with a double minor in legal studies and economics.

Also, I was president of the Bucknell Student Government, I led service trips to the Domican Republic through A.C.E.S. Bucknell, and I attended the Hesselbein Global Academy for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement in Pittsburgh. It was a summit of 50 students from all over the globe, and all of them were really high caliber, intellectually and personally. They are doing incredible things all over the world, such as creating nongovernmental organizations in Dubai to establishing schools and universities for the poor in India.
