Financial Future Bucknell's strategic success to-date is the result of sound financial planning and generous support from alumni, parents, friends and organizations. Gifts since 2006 have supported academics, residential life, diversity initiatives and efforts to build bridges between Bucknell and the world. These include:

WE DO, The Campaign for Bucknell University

To accelerate our progress, Bucknell began the private phase of a comprehensive campaign in July 2007. October 2012 marked the public launch of WE DO, The Campaign for Bucknell University. With a goal of half-a-billion dollars, it is the most ambitious campaign in institutional history. WE DO will secure Bucknell's financial future by acquiring the resources to:

  • Endow more scholarships to recruit and retain outstanding students of all backgrounds
  • Establish more endowed chairs and professorships to recruit and retain the best senior teacher-scholars
  • Create new academic buildings, classrooms, laboratories, student meeting spaces and faculty office spaces, in accordance with the Campus Master Plan
  • Increase Annual Fund giving to provide more resources that are spent during the current academic year and benefit all students
  • Endow new programs to strengthen individual academic programs, seed new cooperative efforts between departments, fund new student research experiences and create new student leadership opportunities

Within these five overarching areas, we are focusing on six academic and residential initiatives:

The Creative Campus Initiative - to foster creative thinking that turns inspiration into innovation and imagination into action

The Global Learning Initiative - to make Bucknell a portal through which our students engage the world, and a magnet for students, scholars, and research and program partners from every destination

The Human Health Initiative - to help Bucknell become a global draw for students and scholars interested in the health sciences

The Management Education Initiative - to enhance further Bucknell's structure as an educator of tomorrow's business leaders

The Residential Learning Initiative - to help Bucknell students become better people and achieve even more as they live, work and learn together

The Sustainability Initiative - to apply Bucknell's expertise and resources to issues related to sustainability, a core principle of global thinking in the 21st century thinking
