LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Bucknell Dance Company will present its annual spring concert Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, at 8 p.m. in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University.

Directed by Er-Dong Hu, associate professor of dance at Bucknell, the program will feature a mix of modern, ballet and tap dance, with original choreography by guest artists Nick Ross and Melissa Bobick.

The program includes new work fusing a variety of techniques by faculty choreographers Er-Dong Hu and Kelly Knox, and student choreographers Chelsea Dieck, Daniel Maskas and Mikaela Soto. Dieck is a junior majoring in cell biology/biochemistry, Maskas is a senior majoring in chemical engineering, and Soto is a senior majoring in biology.

Associate professor of dance and director of the dance program at Bucknell, Knox created an original work in collaboration with the dancers based on personal inquiries and their resulting movement manifestations.

"After beginning with a series of questions," said Knox, "I'm intrigued how this piece has taken many turns to become a whimsical romp reflecting the idiosyncratic movements of the individual dancers."

Associate professor of dance and director of the concert, Hu will present original choreography featuring the seven graduating seniors of the Bucknell Dance Company.

"As a choreographer, I am striving to connect the dancers with the audience on an emotional level relating the past with the future through challenging choreography, highlighting the individual talents of the graduating class," said Hu.

The concert will feature costume designs by Paula D. Davis, associate professor of theatre and dance; Pam Miller, costume shop manager; and Sydney Nicole de Briel, costume design intern. Steven A. Draheim will be the guest light designer for the concert.

Tickets are $10 a person, $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available in advance at the Campus Box Office in the Weis Center and at the door one hour before each performance. For more information about the performance, call 570-577-1000.

The Spring Dance Concert is supported by Bucknell University, the Association for the Arts and the Richard A. Klein Theatre and Dance Endowment.

Since its inception in 1988, the Bucknell Dance Company and Bucknell Dance Program have shared the artistry of dance through choreography and performance with the Bucknell and Lewisburg community. Bucknell Dance Company concerts have celebrated many dance genres and cultural traditions, allowing the audience and the students an opportunity to be educated, as well as entertained. The program has grown to include new faculty and a Dance Merits Scholarship for students interested in a dance minor.
