LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Bucknell Brigade will host its fourth annual raffle and silent auction Friday, Feb. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Larison Dining Hall at Bucknell University.
Entertainment throughout the evening will be provided by five Bucknell a cappella groups: the BisonChips, Two Past Midnight, Beyond Unison, the Silhouetts and the Offbeats. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.
All proceeds will be used to fund a permanent health clinic that the Brigade has established in the community of Nueva Vida, Nicaragua.
A wide variety of prizes from local businesses, those in destination cities, and nationwide corporations will be available for silent auction, sealed bid, and raffle.
This year's raffle includes five nights lodging at Sapphire Village in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, six fast lane passes for Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, tickets to the Pittsburgh Zoo, visitors' passes to the Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra passes, tickets to Hershey Gardens and the Hershey Experience, private Spanish lessons, sports memorabilia, a Vera Bradley back pack, belly-dancing lessons, restaurant meals, potted plants, Qigong classes, a wine basket, original art work, babysitting services, jewelry, five hours of dog-walking, a spa basket, stuffed animals, and passes to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for general admission and will be sold at the door or at the Office of Civic Engagement, located in the Bertrand Library at Bucknell.
The Bucknell Brigade was formed in 1999, when a group of volunteers spent their spring break providing emergency relief efforts following the devastation of Hurricane Mitch. Since then, volunteers involved in this student-initiated service-learning project help raise money for the free health clinic in Nueva Vida, outside the capital city of Managua.
