LEWISBURG, Pa. — Stephan Jones, son of Peoples Temple leader Jim Jones, will give the talk, "Jonestown: Yesterday and Today," Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the Formal Living Room of Hunt Hall at Bucknell University.
The talk, which is free and open to the public, is the closing event in the Griot Institute for Africana Studies Series, "Jonestown Reconsidered, 35 years later."
The only biological child of Peoples Temple leader Jim Jones, Stephan Jones escaped the Jonestown events along with members of a Peoples Temple basketball team, who were in Georgetown on that day.
Jones, who was 18 at the time, lost most of his family and community that day.
In preparation for the talk, Jones suggests attendees read articles he has written, found on the Alternative Considerations of Jonestown website.
