Celebrating the Chinese New Year

We recently made decorations to celebrate the "Year of the Monkey." Being together with family and watching the new year gala are traditional new year activities.

Chinese post the fu characters ("good fortune" and "luck") and new year decorations on walls, doors and windows in hopes to have great fortune and good luck in the coming new year.

The Basics of Japanese Cuisine

In fall of 2015, Prof. Elizabeth Armstrong held a workshop/tutorial on the basics of Japanese cuisine. Students from all disciplines gathered at the 7th St. Studio to learn how to prepare, cook and present an elegant and simple meal.

Dumpling Making

Dumpling making has been an essential event in the history of the Chinese Culture and Student Association.

We are able to reach out to many groups of students and teach them how to make dumplings as well as the history of dumpling making.

Practicing Calligraphy

EAST 120 ("Intro to Chinese Culture") students learned and practiced the "regular script" of calligraphy, showcasing particular features of Chinese philosophy and religion, such as Dao and "Good will be rewarded with good," and universal values of human experience, such as love, "Practice what you preach," and "Actions speak louder than words."
