International Education

History:
Established by the Departments of Civil Engineering of the University of Nottingham, England, and Bucknell University in 1995, the program expanded in 1997 to include the Departments of Chemical and Electrical Engineering.

Eligibility:
Junior standing and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. The program is competitive.

Length of Stay:
Full year (late September to mid-June)
Spring semester (late January to mid-June)

Academic Features:

  • Course work that matches Bucknell requirements

  • Transfer credit toward the Bucknell degree provided all courses are passed with a "C" or better

  • Opportunity to earn 4.5 Bucknell transfer credits per semester provided two thirds of the courses are taken within the Faculty of Engineering (40 out of 60 Nottingham credits).

  • Assigned academic advisers in the Departments of Civil, Chemical and Electrical Engineering.

  • Visit the University of Nottingham Web site and course catalog.

Orientation:
Full year:
Participation in the University of Nottingham's week-long orientation for international students in late September.
Spring semester: Participation in a one-day orientation provided by Nottingham's International Office for international students arriving for the second semester.

Housing:
University housing in residence halls, most with meal plans, or in self-catering flats.
