Competing in Division I Sports

Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I sports (football competes in the Division 1 - Football Championship Subdivision). With varsity intercollegiate athletic competition for 27 men's and women's teams, our athletics program is annually one of the most diverse and comprehensive in the nation among the Division I Schools. As a member of the Patriot League, we compete against top-notch schools — American, Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, and Navy.

Our intercollegiate athletics program has compiled a record that is enviable both for its successes on the playing fields and courts and for the accomplishments of student-athletes in the classroom and laboratory.

• In the 17 years that the Patriot League Presidents' Cup has been awarded for overall excellence in the league championships, Bucknell has taken the honor 13 times.
• In the most recent NCAA study, Bucknell ranked first in the nation with a perfect 100 percent graduation rate of its student-athletes.
• Bucknell ranks third in the nation for the number of student-athletes named to national Academic All-America teams.
