The late Kirk Barrett ’87 is pictured in this undated photo. The Kirk Richard Barrett Memorial Scholarship was established in 1997 by his family and friends after his 1994 death. The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior student with financial need, with preference given to a major in biology, economics or business. A March Madness fundraiser has been organized, in part, by George Lane ’72 for more than 20 years. He was a colleague and friend of Kirk’s.

Pinamont

Billy Pinamont ’17 continued his family legacy of military service, becoming the third generation to serve in the armed forces. He was commissioned as an ensign during a ceremony at the Union League of Philadelphia on June 17. Pinamont, a student at Penn State College of Medicine, was awarded a full U.S. Navy Health Professions Scholarship for the MD program and will serve in the medical corps after graduation. A four-year member of Bucknell’s crew team, Pinamont had the support of his former team at the Commissioning Ceremony. Despite the pandemic, alumni kept their annual golf outing going on May 30 by practicing physical distancing.
