About Special Collections/University Archives
Special Collections/University Archives is responsible for collecting, preserving, and providing access to three distinct collections: special collections in the form of rare books, unique materials, and manuscript collections, and university archives which is comprised of the institutional records of Bucknell University documenting its history.
It is the mission and goal of Special Collections/University Archives to acquire and provide access to primary resources and rare and unique materials that support Bucknell University's academic mission as well as meet the teaching, learning, and research needs of faculty, staff, and students.
Local and regional historical resources and genealogical resources are not within the collecting scope of Special Collections/University Archives. Please contact your local repositories for assistance.
Access to Collections
Special Collections/University Archives endorses the American Library Association and Society of American Archivists Joint Statement on Access to Original Research Materials. Physical condition and restrictions on the use of certain material may affect the ability to reproduce material through photography, scanning, photocopying, or other means of reproduction.
Researchers are restricted to using collections in the LaFayette Butler Reading Room and are required to register when visiting. When registering, researchers are agreeing to Special Collections/University Archives access and use policy.
Special collections: Search the library catalog, WorldCat, by keyword, author, or title. To limit your search to Special Collections/University Archives holdings, enter your search terms with the command "b8: special collections" (without quotes). Example: au:yeats,william b8:special collections
Manuscript and University Archives Collections
We have embarked on a multiple year project to create inventories and finding aids for university archives and manuscript collections. Collections with description may be searched in the University Archives and Manuscript Catalog
