Student Employment

Working at Bucknell can be a rewarding opportunity for many students. Job openings are diverse and available in many different departments and offices across campus. Jobs are advertised in myBucknell and Handshake.

Students are paid every other week on Fridays. Direct Deposit statements are available in myBucknell.

Documentation You Will Need to Work on Campus

If you are planning on getting a job on campus, please have documents that prove your identity and employment authorization. Once you are hired to work, several documents are required before you may begin. All documentation must be in the original and valid form; no copies or faxes will be accepted.

Proof of Identity and Employment Authorization — one of the following: U.S. passport, foreign passport, U.S. permanent resident card
Proof of Identity — one of the following: driver’s license, school ID, voter registration card, etc. 
Proof of Employment Authorization — one of the following: Social Security card, birth certificate

Bank account number and routing number (for direct deposit)

Federal Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program provides employment opportunities for students who qualify. Students who meet the requirements for the program will be notified through their financial aid package. A percentage of a student’s wages is covered by federal funds and the remainder comes from Bucknell. Students work an average of about eight to 10 hours per week and are typically paid every two weeks.

Bucknell also offers on-campus jobs for students who do not have federal work-study as part of their financial aid packages. Except for students in the Presidential Fellows program, students are not placed in jobs at Bucknell, so they can apply for jobs that interest them.

The Community Service Federal Work-Study Program 

The Community Service Federal Work-Study Program seeks to match nonprofit organizations with federal work-study eligible Bucknell students seeking jobs. Student employees are paid with federal grant money and are able to work at specified tasks within these organizations, as long as the position benefits local residents or the public good.

This program is co-administered by the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of Civic Engagement, which encourage local nonprofit agencies and institutions to design and submit descriptions of jobs that Bucknell students could do for them under the agency’s management and supervision. Typically, these positions call for no more than 10 hours of work per student per week, but this amount is negotiable between the individual student and the agency.
