Julia Mertes serves as the administrative assistant for the pillar of Equity & Inclusive Excellence in Bucknell University’s Student Affairs.
In this role, Julia provides direct support to International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS); the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer Resource Center (LGBTQ); Multicultural Student Services (MSS); Religious & Spiritual Life (RSL); and the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). She assists with administrative, marketing, and programmatic needs to ensure successful department events and consistent resources for the student body.
Julia graduated from the Pennsylvania State University Schreyer Honors College with interdisciplinary honors in English and journalism as well as a minor in technical writing. She received her master of science in strategic communications from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.
She actively works to create a welcoming environment for all students, allowing them to grow personally, professionally, and academically. With a passion for communications and multimedia storytelling, Julia strives to capture the student experience, while also connecting with current students through their collegiate journey.
Outside of work, Julia enjoys creative writing, volunteering in the community, and spending time with her family (including an American Staffordshire/Pitbull named Penny).
