10 friends from the class of ’78 gather for celebrations and champagne

London was the setting and celebrating the "Big 6-0" was the mission for a group of 1978 alumnae this February. Sally Stoner Bachman, Donna Anderson Bold, Joann Coates, Nancy Seidensticker Faux, Judy Albert, Anne Fredsall Michelini, Wendy Pangburn, Jane MacCallum Preziosi, Lisa Poulin and Pam Heller Shassian undertook a "postgrad study" of this wonderful city.

Their research included historic churches, museums and palaces, as well as the lively theater scene. Their most intensive "field research" involved exploring the haunts and habits of the city's delightful residents. This required multiple visits to local restaurants, pubs and the city's many famous shops. Highlights included a tour of the Churchill War Rooms, a back-of-the-house tour with high tea of the National Theatre, the West End's hot new British comedy "The Hangman" and an incredible dinner (with champagne!) at Spring, the gorgeous restaurant in Somerset House.

Their London adventure marked the 21st year this well-traveled group has convened, in locations near and far (Paris was the site of their 50th birthday celebration), along with other classmates unable to attend this year. Plans are in the works for future trips and the group eagerly looks forward to further research with this "seasoned" team.
