A Year of Achievement, Expansion and Exploration

December 31, 2018

It's been a year of big announcements and even bigger achievements for Bucknell University.

Our students and faculty continued their record of outstanding scholarship in 2018 by earning a Davis Projects for Peace grant to build community in Malaysia, a prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for excellence in STEM disciplines, four Fulbright scholarships, NSF grants to bring cutting-edge research equipment to campus and much more. Our student-athletes, meanwhile, again ranked among the top in the nation in graduation rate, while our recent alumni reported the highest average starting salary in University history.

We celebrated 125 years of engineering education at Bucknell with a Homecoming event attended by 500 alumni, students and friends, and looked toward the future as we broke ground on Academic East, a state-of-the art engineering and education building that will expand engineering lab space by 50 percent. Our campus' evolution continued elsewhere as we opened Hildreth-Mirza Hall, a home for the humanities at the heart of campus, and announced an eight-figure gift to support a new facility for the Freeman College of Management and Department of Art & Art History.

Our loyal and generous alumni stood with us along the way, and we honored them by naming the Freeman College of Management in honor of Ken Freeman '72 and Davis Hall after Frank Davis '82, P'13. We also welcomed a new generation of Bucknellians, as 976 students from 30 states and 46 countries began first-year classes.

Relive these memories and much more in the video below. Happy New Year!
