RISE Chair/Co-chair

Role Description and Details

• Responsibilities

  • Serve as an ambassador and advocate for the RISE network’s mission and vision
  • Advise on event themes, topics, and speakers that would be meaningful to the RISE community
  • Help identify and promote resources relevant to career development, industry trends, and skill-building
  • Collaborate with Bucknell staff and other volunteers on event logistics
  • Welcome attendees, introduce speakers, and help guide Q&A or discussion
  • Share RISE-related content through social media and professional platforms
  • Collaborate with fellow volunteers and Bucknell staff on strategy and community-building efforts
  • Encourage participation from alumni across industries and class years
  • Provide feedback and insights on network engagement and potential growth opportunities

   

• Skills and Experience

  • Strong interest in professional networking, mentorship and career development
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with social media and/or professional networking platforms like LinkedIn
  • Comfort working in a virtual or hybrid volunteer environment
  • Passion for connecting Bucknell alumni and supporting lifelong learning
  • Previous leadership or volunteer experience (preferred but not required)
     

   

• Location

  Remote with expectation of attending events when possible.

   

• Time Commitment

  This is a long-term volunteer leadership role with an expected commitment of one academic year, renewable annually. Chairs/co-chairs should anticipate quarterly meetings, periodic check-ins and collaboration around at least one or two key RISE events or initiatives each year.

• Volunteer Expectations

  • Attend quarterly RISE planning or update meetings
  • Provide brief updates to the Bucknell staff liaison twice per semester
  • Support at least one RISE-related initiative per year (e.g., event, campaign, content curation)
  • Respond to emails in a timely fashion and contribute to a positive, forward-thinking volunteer culture
