Bucknell Fraternity Rolls Up Sleeves for Community Blood Drive

February 9, 2018

The Bucknell chapter of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, informally known as FIJI, co-sponsored a University blood drive with Geisinger Health System in Larison Dining Hall on Jan. 30. Fifty-seven donors gave blood during the third annual event, which was hosted by FIJI in partnership with LifeSource, an organization dedicated to blood donations in Pennsylvania. Locally, LifeSource provides blood for Geisinger Medical Center, whose representatives worked with students on campus to organize the drive.

FIJI's involvement with the drive has sparked more awareness and interest in participation among students, including Reid Sanchez '18. "I came out to donate blood today not only because I think it's a great cause, but also because I want to support the FIJI chapter and their involvement in the event," he said. "It truly is nice to know that this drive can make such a difference for patients in the local area."

All donations will be used to help patients in the local community.
