Dr. Christopher Connacher is a licensed psychologist and earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany.

In terms of professional interests, Chris enjoys providing professional services for college students and has worked in multiple college counseling center settings. He is passionate about helping students work through challenges related to personal adjustment, family of origin issues, identity issues, depression, anxiety, health and eating concerns as well as issues related to violence and trauma. He is also very interested in aiding students who are working through issues related to discrimination and oppression. Additionally, Chris has great interest in group therapy and often chooses to co-facilitate therapy groups with other members of the CSDC staff. Chris also really enjoys conducting outreach presentations and programs. As a therapist, Chris is committed to providing a supportive, respectful and inclusive environment where students may feel safe to discuss their problems. He attempts to tailor his therapeutic approach to match the unique needs and preferences of each person.

Chris believes that all individuals possess inherent strengths and it is his role to help each person realize their unique strengths. He finds that self-compassion, mindfulness and assertive communication skills are useful tools for helping many students to maximize success or overcome personal challenges.
