Praised by the New York Times as a “fiery musician” whose playing is “vigorous and passionate,” Qing Jiang has emerged as a versatile musician who is equally known as a performer, teacher, and an advocate of contemporary music. As a performer, she has appeared in Alice Tully Hall, Weill Hall, Jordan Hall, as well as the UK’s Snape Maltings Hall, and China’s Shenzhen Poly Theater. Dr. Jiang performed under legendary conductor and composer Oliver Knussen with the Britten-Pears Orchestra in England, as well as with the Chattanooga Symphony, the Adrian Symphony, the Lanzhou Symphony Orchestra in China, and with numerous festival and collegiate orchestras. She also recently performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and the Yellow River Piano Concerto with the Bucknell University Orchestra. Highlights of the upcoming season include performances with the Jasper String Quartet and Arx Duo, an Artist Residency at Yellow Barn with Violinist Ying Xue, and a solo concert tour of the Debussy Companion Etude Project which Dr. Jiang has curated.

Passionate about chamber music, Dr. Jiang recently completed a six-city concert tour in China with Roger Tapping, Natasha Brofsky, and Laurie Smukler, and debuted at Music Mountain with the Shanghai Quartet. She has previously performed with many leading musicians, including Itzhak Perlman, Donald Weilerstein, Anthony Marwood, Joel Krosnick, and Gil Kalish, as well as with members of the Peabody Trio, and the Emerson, Juilliard, Shanghai, Kronos, and Parker string quartets. Since 2014, Dr. Jiang has maintained a close relationship with England’s Britten-Pears Program, giving numerous solo and chamber performances of traditional and contemporary repertoire. Her other festival appearances include Ravinia, Aspen, Yellow Barn, Music@Menlo, Newburyport Music Festival, Changjiang International Festival, MasterWorks, and the Perlman Music Program.

Equally experienced with contemporary music, Dr. Jiang has worked directly with composers Brett Dean, Jennifer Higdon, Jörg Widmann, Colin Matthews, and Daniel Temkin to prepare performances of their works. In the spring of 2018, Jiang premiered the first commission of the Debussy Companion Etude Project by Chinese composer Zhou Tian, a project originated in her doctoral thesis, which explores Debussy's influence on modern piano repertoire. Portions of her thesis have been published in China's leading journal Piano Artistry.

A native of Zhenjiang, China, Dr. Jiang was the first Chinese recipient of Jack Kent Cooke Arts Scholarship. Her principal teachers include Caio Pagano, Robert McDonald, Wha Kyung Byun, and the late Patricia Zander. Dr. Jiang is currently Assistant Professor of Music at Bucknell University, and Piano Faculty at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music School and Festival in Maine. She previously taught piano, chamber music, and theory at New England Conservatory, the NEC Preparatory School, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Yellow Barn Young Artist Program.
