About Steven Beardsley
Steven Beardsley (he/him/his) is a Visiting Assistant Professor in English Literary Studies at Bucknell University. He holds a Ph.D. in Literature with a specialization in Critical Gender Studies from the University of California San Diego. He is a member of the Southern California Southeast Asian Studies (SoCal SEAS) work group founded at the University of California San Diego.
He is currently working on his book project Queer Intimacies: (Re)imagining Life-worlds in Literatures about Filipino/x American and Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines across the U.S. and the Philippines, which explores the propensity of Filipino/xs American writers to (re)imagine themselves as Indigenous in the Philippines. By also attending to the limits of decolonization and queer theories, he looks at new possibilities for queerer life-worlds for Indigenous and Filipino/x peoples.
He is also seeking publication for forthcoming articles and for his queer YA romantasy novel Sky Dreams that centers a gay Filipino American protagonist.
