A workshop held annually at Bucknell University that offers engineering and science faculty and graduate students a hands-on experience to enhance their teaching by:
- Using instructional objectives to both improve teaching and save time
- Using active, cooperative and problem-based learning
- Teaching teamwork and problem solving skills
- Assessing learning outcomes
Engineering faculty and prospective faculty (including graduate students) who want to use research-driven strategies that reduce course preparation time, make classes more engaging and increase student learning.
2018 Workshop Information
July 10-13, 2018
Workshop Tuition and Meals:
Early Registration is $750 for tuition payments postmarked by April 30.
Regular Registration is $800 for payments postmarked between May 1 and May 30.
Late Registration is $850 for payments postmarked between June 1 and July 10.
Tuition includes all meals during the workshop in our Bostwick Cafeteria, refreshments twice a day, and use of campus facilities such as the Bertrand Library and the Kenneth Langone Athletics & Recreation Center.

Bucknell University is located in Lewisburg, Pa. and is situated approximately 1 hour north of Harrisburg. Lewisburg is within driving distance of a number of major cities, including New York, Baltimore and Philadelphia. The workshop will be held in the Academic West building of Bucknell University campus.
Optional on-campus housing is available in the new South Campus Apartments, adjacent to Academic West. Each apartment contains four single bedrooms, with double occupancy providing linens for two of these. Also in each apartment is a full kitchen, a full-size refrigerator, an electric range and two comfy chairs. All rooms have air conditioning. The ADA-compliant bathrooms in each apartment are divided into separate toilet and shower areas with locking doors and an open vanity area with two sinks, allowing two participants to use the space simultaneously.
Building 1 offers a communal Creative Work Area with whiteboards, projectors, prototyping, etc., whereas Building 2 offers a communal Fitness Room with weights, yoga mats, medicine balls, etc. Both are available for all participants use, as well as an outside basketball court and outdoor patio area with Adirondack chairs.
Please let us know if you would like to be included on a shared contact list in order to facilitate shared transportation from the airport, dinner plans on Tuesday or any other downtown entertainment venue any evening.
For double occupancy, book with a friend or colleague to share an apartment or be assigned an apartment with another participant for a total of only $190 per person for your entire stay, with check-in as early as 10 am. on Tuesday, July 10 and check-out on Friday.
If you prefer to reserve the entire apartment, your three night stay would be a total of $330 for single occupancy, based on availability, with check-in as early as 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 and check-out on Friday.
(NOTE: Housing requests must be made by June 30 and is refundable until June 30. Tuition is non-refundable after May 30.)
