Before you pack your bags, check out these resources to help you through your off-campus experience.
Transferring Courses
Prior to departure, students will complete the Transfer of Credit Form, which will guide them through the course approval process and detail how to receive credit for major, minor and University requirements. In some instances, students may find it necessary to divert from their previously approved courses. When this is necessary, students must follow the course approval process outlined in the Final Course Verification Form.
Guidelines for Transferring Courses from Abroad:
Studying off-campus
Students must be enrolled in the equivalent of four Bucknell University credits (15-16 semester hours).
In a Non-English-speaking country
Students must plan to take a language course, in the host language or a culture course as part of their full course load.
Courses taken off-campus
May be used to fulfill a student's major, minor or University requirements once approved by the appropriate academic department.
Grades
Only grades of "D" or higher will transfer for credit.
Credits
Bucknell will not accept credit for any Pass/Fail courses.
Third-party courses
Transferred from off-campus (non-Bucknell taught courses) will be referenced on students' Bucknell University transcripts, but will not affect their Bucknell University GPA.

While You're Away
While you are off-campus, it can be easy to forget about your responsibilities on campus. You are so busy learning new and exciting things, returning to Bucknell might be the last thing on your mind. However, it is important to remember that while you are off-campus, you should be making preparations for your return to campus.

The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program
The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service provided by the U.S. government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country. STEP allows you to enter information about your upcoming trip abroad so that the Department of State can better assist you in an emergency. STEP also allows Americans residing abroad to get routine information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Students studying abroad are required to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.
