To facilitate community-engaged learning opportunities, the Office of Civic Engagement links teachers and students to local organizations with identified needs. We conduct workshops for faculty, provide support materials, and play the role of "matchmaker," connecting faculty and students to area agencies and groups. Ideally, the interactions are mutually beneficial, ones where students can both learn and contribute and where community partners gain from the support of community-engaged learners.
Civic engagement becomes then an integral part of the Bucknell educational experience as we help prepare students to use their knowledge and skills in professional and public life.
Many Bucknell faculty have incorporated community-engaged learning into their curriculum so that students will see first-hand how their Bucknell degree can lead them to a life of service.

Student Immersion Experiences
Immersion experiences offer Bucknell community members opportunities to deeply engage with new cultures while participating in meaningful community-based learning situations. These perspective-altering experiences allow participants to examine their own backgrounds and biases while learning directly from our host communities.
