General Policies
The University's Child Abuse Reporting policy governs mandatory child abuse reporting requirements under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL), 23 Pa.C.S. §6301 et seq. and University policy which, in some instances, requires broader protections than the CPSL.
The policy applies to all faculty, staff, independent contractors and volunteers of Bucknell University, including student employees and non-Bucknell third parties who are sponsoring events using Bucknell facilities.
Bucknell University respects and endeavors to protect the privacy of those individuals who provide personal information to the University. We seek to be transparent about our use of personal information to provide services to our constituents and fulfill our institutional purpose.
This privacy notice describes the ways in which Bucknell University collects and processes your personal information. For purposes of this notice, "personal information" is defined as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

The objective of the University's Sales, Fundraising & Promotions Policy is to ensure that fundraising, promotions and the sale of goods and services by students, student organizations, athletic teams, departments, programs, faculty, staff and other approved members or affiliates of the Bucknell community are aligned with the University's mission and status as a tax-exempt nonprofit institution of higher education.

Bucknell University's faculty, staff and students often travel in the course of University business. The University has a limited number of University-owned vehicles available for use in such travel. The University's Transportation Policy sets forth procedures and safety requirements for the operation of University vehicles, as well as restrictions on their use.
If you are involved in an accident (reportable or not) while on University business using a University vehicle or other vehicle, you must fill out a Vehicle Accident Report Form and return it to the Office of the General Counsel. This form can be found in myBucknell.
Faculty, Staff & Students
FERPA (The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended) is designed to protect the privacy of a student's education records.
The University's Sample Contract for Guest Speakers, Lecturers, Performers and Any Other Service Providers (below) provides a contractual template for guest honoraria and for expense reimbursement.
All full-time undergraduate students (taking three or more classes) and all full-time graduate students (those in a degree-seeking program and taking two or more courses per semester) attending Bucknell University must enroll in or waive out of the health insurance coverage offered through the University each year.
All students providing verifiable proof of comparable coverage may waive the purchase of the sponsored plan.
Students are required to complete the waiver or enrollment each year.
International Faculty, Students & Visitors
Find immigration and visa information for faculty, staff and exchange visitors regarding H-1B and J-1 visas as well as permanent residency here.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and federal law have placed numerous restrictions on making payments to foreign individuals, including scholars, students and visitors. The restrictions limit the type of payments that may be made based on the individual's visa type and sponsoring organization. The sponsoring department is responsible to make sure the individual receiving payment is legally eligible to receive the requested payment.
Information about payments and restrictions may be found on the Office of Finance website.

The United States has had federal laws restricting the export of goods and technology. Attention to export controls has increased over time due to heightened concerns about homeland security, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, terrorism and leaks of technology to U.S. economic competitors.
Licenses
Laws and regulations constituting export controls govern the shipment, transmission or transfer of certain sensitive items, information or software to foreign persons or entities, including when that transfer occurs on Bucknell's campus. Those laws sometimes require that Bucknell obtain a license from the U.S. government before making the "export."
Sanctions, Fines & Imprisonment
Most of the technology, information or software that Bucknell exports — either by shipping it to another country or by sharing it with its foreign national colleagues and students — is not of a nature that would be restricted for these purposes. Failure to adhere to export control requirements when they are applicable, however, could result in severe sanctions for both Bucknell University and the individual involved in the export, including administrative sanctions (e.g., loss of research funding), monetary fines up to $1 million and imprisonment up to twenty years.
Questions regarding export control requirements, including those concerning a potential violation, should be referred to:
